WATERLOO - Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging was awarded three Aging Achievement Awards and special recognition to Donna Harvey, executive director, by the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging.
The awards were presented at the organization's annual conference in Minneapolis on July 21.
The awards recognized Hawkeye Valley's achievements in three areas: Person-Centered Funding, Inclement Weather Shelf Stable Meals Program and the Livable Communities Program.
Patty Esch, associate director of case management, accepted the award for Person-Centered Funding; Sally Myers, associate director of programs services, accepted the award for Inclement Weather Shelf Stable Meals Program; and Janet Buls, Livable Communities and advocacy coordinator, accepted the award for Livable Communities.
Person-Centered Funding is a program in which Senior Living Trust funding follows a client.
The Inclement Weather Shelf Stable Meals Program allows older people to have a meal available when a hot meal is unable to be delivered due to weather.
Livable Communities is an initiative to evaluate how well a person can age successfully within their community.
