Details: Americorps Iowa has assembled a disaster response team and sponsoring the run. The total profits will stay locally and be used for flood relief efforts.

From Lanterns and Glowworms to the Night Sky and Caves

Time: 1 to 4 p.m.

location: Waterloo Center for the Arts, 225 Commercial St

Details: For ages 6 to 9, learn about the themes of dark and light by exploring interactive exhibits in the Phelps Youth Pavilion, playing games with light and shadows, creating shadow puppets, paper lanterns and glowworms for your room.

Free hog roast

Details: ASPIRE Therapeutic Riding Program is holding an open house and hog roast. Tour the ASPIRE farm and meet the horses.

Drill team competition

Time: 6 p.m.

Location: East High School gym

Details: Lords Warriors of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church will be sponsoring the seventh annual drill team competition. The show will involved approximately 400 youths from all over the midwest.

Admission: $5; children 5 and under free.
