Today's forecast: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming west northwest around 5 mph. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.

Here are some things going on today in the Cedar Valley:

-- George Wyth State Park finally reopens from the floods. Some areas still cannot reopen, like the campground and swimming areas, but the rest of the park is accessible. It has been cleaned and sanitized.

-- The Salsa Band, Orquesta Alta Maiz, will perform during Friday'Loo start at 5:30 p.m. at Lincoln Park in downtown Waterloo.

-- The Tarzan Convention, known as a Dum Dum, opens at 9 a.m. at Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center. The comic book sale opens at 9 a.m. Saturday

-- A singles dance with DJ Doug Shalla will be 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at Electric Park Ballroom at National Cattle Congress grounds. Admission is $8.

-- Movies Under the Moon will be 9 p.m. at Overman Park, Cedar Falls. The movie to be shown is "Singin' in the Rain." Admission is free.
