IOWA CITY (AP) - Iowa wrestling coach Tom Brands has indefinitely suspended a redshirt freshman after a car vandalism incident in Indianola
In a written statement Thursday, Brands said he's disappointed in Montell Marion's actions. He suspended the 20-year-old wrestler and will meet with athletic department officials to decide a course of action.
According to police, Marion used a chair to break windows in two cars, causing an estimated $400 damage to each. The incident happened early Sunday near Simpson College.
The report says officers, with the approval of the cars' owners, agreed not to file charges if Marion pays for the damages.
Montell was arrested last summer for public intoxication and disorderly conduct after a fight at an Iowa City bar.
