IOWA FALLS - A single-vehicle accident southwest of Iowa Falls left a driver and passenger with undisclosed injuries Friday afternoon.
Michael Allyn Barger, 41, of Ottawa, Kan., and Braydon Lillie, 5, of Independence, were transported to Ellsworth Hospital following an accident, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.
The report indicated that Barger was traveling westbound on Highway 20 when he lost control of a 2009 Toyota Camry near mile marker 165. The vehicle went through a fence, jumped a ditch and hit a "road closed" sign before coming to rest in a field. ISP Trooper Jim Ostbloom, who responded to the incident, speculated Barger may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
The Hardin County E-Squad, Buckeye/Alden First Responders and Hardin County Sheriff's Office and Division of Criminal Investigation assisted.
Details on the victims' status were not released by Ellsworth Hospital. The accident remains under investigation.
