DES MOINES (AP) - Two football coaches from the same Des Moines high school resigned this week after a public brawl during a game.

Police say Roosevelt High School football coach Chad Swingert and assistant coach Ryan McCracken got into a shouting match on the sideline after a Rough Riders interception at about 8:15 p.m. at Hoover High School in Des Moines.

Police say the shouting escalated and Swingert choked McCracken.

Swingert denied the choking allegation, but a witness tells police that he saw Swingert choke McCracken.

Both men were asked by school officials to resign. Their positions as coaches have been filled.

Police have not charged Swingert, but McCracken says in a police report that he wants to file charges.
