COUNCIL BLUFFS (AP) - Authorities say a Council Bluffs man was on life support in an Omaha hospital after he was shot by his sister with a gun he told her contained only blank ammunition.
Elizabeth Brannen told investigators Monday that she confronted her brother, Chad, about handling the weapon in the house, and he told her it was loaded only with blanks. She said he fired it in the living room to prove the point, and then handed it to her.
The sister told police she aimed the gun at her brother and fired a live round, which struck him in the forehead.
Elizabeth Brannen drove her brother to Jennie Edmundson Hospital, and he was later transferred to the Nebraska Medical Center.
Police charged her with reckless use of a firearm.
