UNI volleyball beats Drake, 3-1

CEDAR FALLS - Shannon Aschoff had 17 kills and Amy Sampson added 14 to lead the University of Northern Iowa volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Drake Friday night at the McLeod Center.

Set scores were 21-25, 25-19, 28-26 and 25-17 in favor of the Panthers.

Ashten Stelken, Michelle Burow and Beth Discher each added eight kills in a balanced UNI offensive attack. Ellie Blankenship of Cedar Rapids once again anchored the back row for the Panthers with 23 digs, while Bre Payton of Waterloo had a double-double with 43 assists and 13 digs. Drake's Angela Bys led all players with 18 kills.

With the win, UNI improves to 10-1 overall, 1-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference, while Drake falls to 7-5 and 0-1. The Panthers play host to Creighton tonight at the McLeod Center, with first serve set for 7:30 pm.
