WATERLOO - A 49-year-old man is accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
James Williams of Waterloo was arrested Wednesday, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The charge is contained in an indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids.
The indictment alleges Williams in December 2007 had a revolver after a previous conviction that resulted in a prison term exceeding one year. Williams was convicted of third-degree burglary in Black Hawk County.
Williams appeared Wednesday in federal court in Cedar Rapids and was released on bond. A trial is set for August 31.
If convicted, Williams faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release.
