WATERLOO - Family Fish day is Saturday at Prairie Lakes Park in Cedar Falls (North Lake).
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be stocking 1,300 catchable-size trout into the the North Prairie Lake that morning. Fishing will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Equipment recommended: ice fishing pole or lightweight fishing rod with 2 or 4 pound line; ice auger and ice scoop; five-gallon bucket to sit on; ice fishing jigs or small tube jigs; bait - worms, waxworms, mousies or spikes; and warm clothing.
Limited ice fishing equipment will be available to borrow from the DNR. Personnel will be on hand to assist young anglers and to answer questions.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a licensed (fishing license plus trout stamp) adult.
Sponsors include the DNR, Cedar Falls Parks Division and Cedar Valley Walleye Club.
Parking is available at the southeast corner of Viking and Hudson roads, or in the larger parking lot at Prairie Lakes Park.
