Former Dunkerton man killed in hit-and-run

WAYNE COUNTY, Mo. - A Dunkerton native died in a hit-and-run accident Saturday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Dean Nordman, 41, was reportedly walking with Jacob Thomas, 14, of House Springs, Mo., when a car struck both of them.

Nordman died at the scene, according to the Wayne County Coroner's Office. Thomas received serious injuries and was air-lifted to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened on Route HH about a half mile west of County Road 418. Wayne County is in southeast Missouri near the Mark Twain National Forest.

Dean Nordman graduated from Dunkerton High School but lived in Burlington. He is survived by his wife, Cindey, and two children, Lochlan and Lucas. His parents, Fred and Elaine Nordman, live in Dunkerton.

Nordman's funeral service will be Tuesday at Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill, Mo.
