CEDAR FALLS - A burglary victim wound up being arrested himself after attempting to extort money from the people who burglarized him.

Fernando Ruben Pierce, 32, of 2005 Olive St., returned home Aug. 12 to discover his Xbox video game system, DVDs and a book bag had been stolen.

According to court records, Pierce believed his ex-girlfriend, Hannah Elizabeth Uker, 24, of Waverly, was the one who broke into the home. Pierce confronted Uker about the burglary and Uker returned the items.

A Cedar Falls police report shows Pierce talked about Uker paying him money so that he would not report the incident to police.

No payment was arranged, but over time Pierce called and sent text messages to Uker demanding money.

Uker then filed a complaint with the Waverly Police Department.

Uker was arrested Tuesday for third-degree burglary, a class D felony, and fourth-degree theft, a misdemeanor.

Sean Thomas Adams, 23, of 2737 St. Francis St. Apt. 10, Waterloo, allegedly accompanied Uker during the break-in and was arrested Tuesday on the same charges.

Pierce was arrested Saturday for extortion, a class D felony.
