RUDD - An Arkansas man was killed and two passengers injured in a single-vehicle rollover accident reported at 7:25 a.m. today on the U.S. Highway 18, the Avenue of the Saints, three miles east of Rudd.

The Iowa State Patrol said Trey E. Henry, 28, was killed and passengers Rocksana Henry, 22, and Kassie Lee Austin, 27 were injured in the accident. All are of Russellville, Ark.

The victims were treated at the scene by AMR and Nora Springs Ambulance services. Mercy Airlift transported one victim in a helicopter with the other victims coming into Mercy Medical Center- North Iowa by ambulance.

Floyd County Sherioff Rick Lynch said it appears the vehicle was westbound when it hit a patch of ice and lost control rolling through the median and coming to rest in the middle of the eastbound lanes of traffic. Trey Henry and Kassie Austin were ejected from the vehicle, according ot the State Patrol.

The Avenue of the Saints-Highway 18 was closed to eastbound traffic and detoured south for approximately 90 minutes until the outside lane was cleared. Then the Avenue was open to one lane from County Road T26 to County Road B30 for another hour before the Avenue was fully reopened to traffic at about 10:05 a.m. today.

Other agencies assisting at the scene were the Nora Springs Police and Fire departments, Rudd Fire Department, Floyd County Engineer's Office, Iowa State Department of Transportation.

The accident is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

Ice was evident on icy roads early in the morning. There were numerous reports of accidents on area roads.
