WATERLOO - A severe thunderstorm watch for our area has been issued until noon today.
As of 6:45 a.m., the metro area was being hit with a heavy rainstorm.
Numerous thunderstorm with very heavy rainfall will move east across north central Iowa through 6 a.m. Gusty winds to 45 mph and very heavy rain should be expected with ponding of water on roadways and poor visibility due to the heavy rain.
Expect the heaviest rainfall through the Highway 20 corridor from Rockwell City to Webster City and Iowa Falls.
The flood warning continues today on the Cedar River at Cedar Falls. At 11:45 p.m. Monday, flood stage was at 88.4 feet. Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. Flood stage is 88 feet.
The river will continue to fall below flood stage by late this afternoon.
The flood warning also continues for the West Fork of the Cedar River at Finchford. At 1:45 a.m. today the stage was 12.6 feet. Flood stage is 12 feet. The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by Wednesday morning.
