WATERLOO -- After weeks of holdups at local business, robbers struck again Monday night at a tavern.

Two men demanded money after walking into the Trucker Bar and Restaurant, 1915 Bourland Ave., shortly before 7:25 p.m.

They were both wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and ski masks, and one of them brandished a handgun. One person was struck with a gun, and was examined by paramedics.

The Trucker Bar robbery came less than a day after bandits held up a taxi driver. At about 1:40 a.m. Monday, the Yellow Cab driver showed up in the 1200 block of West Mullan Avenue to pick up a ride when two men climbed in and put a handgun to her head.

They ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash and her purse.

A week earlier, on Nov. 9, two men, one armed with a pellet gun, threatened the clerk at Elite Liquor, 1309 Lafayette St., and ran off with cash from the register.

On Nov. 6, three people, one brandishing a handgun, robbed Kwik Stop, 1761 Independence Ave., of cash and took a cell phone from a customer.

A masked man with handgun robbed Cork's Grocery, 1956 Lafayette St., Nov. 1 and then rode off on a bicycle.

Police have also seen an increase in home robberies in recent weeks.

On Sunday morning, two men forced their way into a home at 217 W. Parker St. They confronted the residents in their bedroom and fired a shot to threaten them. The took a money and safe that contained a 9 mm handgun, police said.

No arrests have been made in the robberies
