CEDAR FALLS - University of Northern Iowa junior quarterback Pat Grace was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday. It marks the second time this season that Grace has earned the league's top offensive honor.
Grace (Sioux City, Iowa/Bishop Heelan HS) was responsible for all four UNI touchdowns in the Panthers' 31-17 win over Illinois State. Grace ran for a career-high 99 yards on 13 carries, which included a pair of rushing scores - an 8-yard run in the third quarter and a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter.
He was also efficient throwing the ball as he completed 13-of-18 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Grace's first scoring toss went five yards to Ryan Mahaffey to put the Panthers on top, 7-0. Grace's second touchdown pass of the day came on a 50-yarder to Victor Williams in the second quarter, and it gave UNI a 17-3 lead.
Grace is responsible for 15 of the Panthers' 20 offensive touchdowns in 2008. He has passed for 955 yards and eight touchdowns on 67-of-107 passing. Grace ranks second on team in rushing yards with 377 yards on 71 carries. Grace's seven rushing touchdowns ranks him first on the squad.
UNI will take on North Dakota State this Saturday in the UNI-Dome with a 4:05 p.m. kickoff.
