DES MOINES - The Republican Party of Iowa State Central Committee has elected Matt Strawn of Ankeny to serve as Chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa.
Strawn won a three-way race against former State Representative Danny Carroll and Hardin County GOP Chairman Andy Cable on the Committee's first ballot.
The Committee elected Waterloo native and former State Rep. Jim Kurtenbach of Nevada to be Co-chairman of the Party.
On the ballot with him were current RPI Co-Chairman and former Black Hawk County Supervisor Leon Mosley, 2008 U.S. Senate candidate Christopher Reed, and former Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate.
Also on the Committee's agenda was the selection of officers for treasurer and secretary. Matt Randall of Ames was chosen to serve as the Party's Treasurer and Bill Schickel of Mason City was elected Secretary. Both are currently members of the State Central Committee.
