MOLINE, Ill. - A 7-week-old girl was in intensive care at a Peoria hospital Friday after police say the infant was placed in a bath tub by young siblings early Thursday.
Moline police and firefighters were called to 433 18th Ave. A at 1:24 a.m. and began performing CPR on the child, who was unresponsive.
The infant was later airlifted to OSF Children's Hospital in Peoria. The child remained in intensive care at the hospital Friday.
Police said their initial investigation revealed that the siblings, who were all under the age of 4, placed the infant in the bath tub while their mother was asleep.
Physicians at the hospital have told police the next several days will be critical in assessing the infant's condition.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
