DAVENPORT - A 16-year-old father was arrested Tuesday morning on charges connected with the death of his 3-month-old son.

Xzavier Posey Sr., 1120 College Ave., is charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment, according to Davenport police. His son, Xzavier Posey Jr., died Nov. 15.

Posey will turn 17 on Saturday.

According to police, Xzavier was taken to the hospital after his father called 911 from his house on the morning of Aug. 31. Posey reported his son was not breathing, police said. Xzavier was then transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Xzavier died shortly after he returned home from the hospital in the fall. He was born Aug. 5.

An autopsy on the baby revealed he died from blunt force trauma he suffered on Aug. 31, when he was 26 days old.

At his funeral, the pastor talked about how baby Xzavier's life would serve to spread awareness about the devastating consequences of shaken baby syndrome.

The baby's mother was Shaunticia Liddell, 17, of Davenport.
