Traffic stop in C.F. leads to weapons charges

CEDAR FALLS - Three men were arrested as felons in possession of a gun after a traffic stop in Cedar Falls early Wednesday.

Police stopped a car driven by Kirby Lee Sanders, 28, of 332 Argyle St., Waterloo, at Eighth and Main Streets at about 1:15 a.m. for erratic driving. During the traffic stop police found a loaded handgun under the driver's seat.

Sanders was arrested for first-offense operating while intoxicated, carrying weapons and possession of weapons by a felon. The other two men in the vehicle, Michael Jan Menton, 33, of 610 E. Fourth St., Waterloo, and Jashia Love Petersen, 27, of 224 Williston Ave., Waterloo, were also arrested for carrying weapons and possession of weapons by a felon for the same handgun.
