GRUNDY CENTER - A Cedar Falls man was injured Monday in a pickup-semi accident on U.S. Highway 20.
Edgar Escobeco-Gonzalez, 25, was taken to Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls following the accident in the eastbound lanes of Highway 20 near mile marker 218 in Grundy County. The accident was reported at 6:40 p.m.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Escobeco-Gonzalez was driving a GMC Sierra pickup westbound on Highway 20 when he lost control and entered the median coming into the eastbound lanes of the highway and striking the semi. The semi was driven by Terri L. Fannin, 25, of Owingsville, Ky., driving for Covenant Transport Inc. of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Escobeco-Gonzalez' vehicle ended up in the south ditch. He was not wearing a seat belt, the report states.
Troopers were assisted by the Grundy County Sheriff's Office and Dike Ambulance and Fire at the scene. No further details were available.
