CEDAR RAPIDS - The Iowa Department of Transportation has begun work on a patching project on Interstate 380 from one mile north of U.S. 30 in Cedar Rapids to U.S. 218 in Waterloo.

Intermittent lane closures on both north- and southbound Interstate 380 will be used to allow for pavement patching. The Iowa DOT is allowing only nighttime lane closures starting at 7 p.m. through 6 a.m. during the week. No work will be allowed from 6 a.m. Friday until 9 p.m. Sunday.

Daytime work hours will only be permitted on Interstate 380 north of Center Point (milepost 35) to U.S. 20. A 14-foot width lane restriction will be in place for the duration of the project. Traffic speeds will be reduced to 55 mph within the posted work zones when workers are present.

Hawkeye Paving Corp. of Bettendorf is the prime contractor for this $438,000 project. All work is scheduled to be done by early September.
