Rural Grundy Co. business damaged in fire

CONRAD - An early morning fire damaged part of the Green Products plant near Conrad Saturday.

Fire crews responded to a call at 1:38 a.m. to the plant located north of town on 290th Street. The flames started in the bagging filter system of the plant, according to the Grundy County Sheriff's Department.

Both Beaman and Conrad fire departments, along with the Beaman-Conrad Emergency Response Team, responded to the blaze. Crews were on scene for about three hours, the sheriff's department said.

No injuries were reported. Damage estimates were not available.

Green Products processes corn cobs into grit, flour or pellet materials for use in other products, like abrasives or animal feed.
