DES MOINES -Law enforcement will hold a corridor safety event on all Iowa interstates on Friday.
During this event-dubbed Operation "Is" -officers from at least 40 different agencies will work both a morning and early evening enforcement effort along 10 different areas of Iowa's interstates.
"If you're out on the I-80 or I-35 any time on Friday, you better be buckled up and following the speed limit," project coordinator Jim Meyerdirk said in a press release. "Motorists won't be able to drive more than a few miles without seeing those familiar flashing lights. We're serious about saving lives."
Operation "Is" will be the fifth of seven safety corridor events held on highways though out the state over the course of the summer. The primary goal of these corridor events is to focus on nighttime enforcement of motor vehicle laws including seat belts, speed and impaired driving, in an attempt to reduce the serious injury and fatality crashes happening on Iowa highways.
