Minn. drowning victim identified as Waterloo man

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) - After days of searching, authorities have found the body of a 23-year-old man who apparently drowned earlier this week in Bur Oaks Pond in Eagan.

He was identified as Kevin M. Tranby Jr. of Waterloo.

Tranby was visiting relatives who live near the pond when he went canoeing went Wednesday night. He fell out of his canoe about 10:35 p.m.

Family members heard him shout for help, but Eagan police and fire crews were unable to find the body - until Sunday morning. Underwater vegetation hampered the search.

A Dakota County sheriff's deputy noticed a body floating in the water around 6 a.m. Sunday.
