WATERLOO - Waterloo police are investigating two separate robberies Monday in which the victims of both were assaulted.
The first occurred about 9:20 p.m. in the 100 block of Quincy Street. A delivery driver for East of China, 2044 Logan Ave., was sent to 121 Quincy St. for a food delivery. Once there, he was approached by two black male teenagers who denied ordering food, police said. When he approached the house, he was struck in the head from behind.
The suspects fled on foot with the food. The driver, who was not identified, sustained a head injury. He was transported to an area hospital by Waterloo Fire Rescue, where he was treated and released, police said. The residents at 121 Quincy St. said they did not order food from the business.
The teens were described as in their middle to late teens. One was about 5 feet 4 inches tall and medium build, wearing dark-colored clothing. No description was given of the other.
About 50 minutes later, police received a report of an armed robbery at the Clark Station, 1008 La Porte Road. In that case, police said three young black males entered the store and one produced a handgun and demanded money.
During the robbery, the clerk was struck in the head with the handgun. The suspects fled on foot with numerous packs of cigars, two cellular phones and an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers located clothing and one of the two cell phones several blocks away on Wisconsin Street.
One of the suspects was described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall, a second as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and the third as 6 feet, 1 inches to 6 feet, 3 inches tall and slender. All three were reportedly wearing black zip-up hoodies and a dark spandex-type face mask.
The clerk, who was not identified, did not require medical treatment.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
