WATERLOO - Waterloo police have arrested a man in connection with a 16-year-old girl who was shot while walking downtown Monday morning.
Mark Anthony Kidd, 31, was arrested Tuesday for willful injury, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and possession of weapons by a felon after he turned himself in to the Black Hawk County Jail.
His bond was set at $375,000.
During the investigation, police learned Marhia Martin of Waterloo was in the area of 721 West 7th Street in Waterloo when a verbal altercation took place between the suspect and another group of persons shortly before 1 a.m. Monday.
The suspect displayed a handgun and threatened the group, police said. The group then left the area, and a short time later Kidd, who was driving a dark colored four-door vehicle, drove past the area of West Fifth and Washington streets.
He allegedly fired a single round from a weapon into a group, striking Martin in the leg. He then left the area.
