Waterloo police investigate business break-ins

WATERLOO - At least three businesses reported burglaries that happened Wednesday and Thursday, according to Waterloo police.

Workers at Carl Schuler Masonry, 2130 Commercial St., discovered someone had pried open the back door to the business when they arrived Wednesday morning.

A laptop computer valued at $975 and $394 in cash was taken.

At East Side Motors, 541 Independence Ave., a burglar broke in through a window and fled with seven car stereos, three amplifiers, four rim and tire sets and $20 in cash. The burglary was discovered Wednesday.

Then 4:35 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to an alarm at Karen's Print Rite, 2515 Falls Ave., and found the glass door had been shattered.

Inside, a coin tray from a register had been removed, and police also found blood on some of the broken glass, according to the police report.

It wasn't known of the crimes are connected.
