INDEPENDENCE -There will be a tour of the Walter House in Cedar Rock State Park Saturday, marking the 142nd anniversary of the building's designer, Frank Lloyd Wright.
The tour is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m.
The home is built mainly of brick, wood and glass, which affords views of the river, as well as the woodlands that surround it. The grounds include a Wright-designed entrance gate, Usonian home, river pavilion and council fire area for outdoor events. Guests are encouraged to view the home and grounds at their leisure. Volunteers and site staff are posted throughout the grounds to answer any questions.
The annual event is a fundraiser for Cedar Rock. The house can be found just outside Quasqueton, at 2611 Quasqueton Diagonal Blvd. (Buchanan County Road W-35), Independence.
A $3 donation will be accepted.
For more information, call the visitor center, at (319) 934-3572, or e-mail the park, at cedar_rock@dnr.iowa.gov.
