SUMNER - Authorities are investigating the death of a teenager after a report he had been stabbed here Monday morning.
Another teen has been detained for a related assault.
Sumner police and medics found Raymond Randall, 18, suffering from stab wounds at 409 E. First St. at about 2:40 a.m., according to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, which is assisting with the case.
Randall was taken to Community Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankey.
Also at the First Street address, authorities found 18-year-old Zachary Moran had been assaulted.
They took Sebastian Trimble, 16, into custody for willful injury causing serious injury in connection with the attack on Moran, according the Division of Criminal Investigation.
The Sumner Police Department, Bremer and Fayette county sheriff's offices and Bremer County Attorney's Office are also involved in the investigation.
According to the DCI, Bremer County dispatchers received a 911 call at 2:42 a.m. saying Moran had been assaulted. A minute later, a second call reported Randall had stabbed.
