OTTUMWA (AP) - An Ottumwa woman accused of killing a man last year at her home has been found not guilty.
Fifty-year-old Sheri Locke was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 65-year-old Charles Denham. She was accused of shooting Denham several times at her home in August 2007. He died the next day.
The jury returned its verdict Friday morning in Wapello County. The panel began deliberating the case on Wednesday.
Prosecutors argued that Locke knew what she was doing when she shot Denham and intended to kill him.
Defense attorneys argued that the shooting was accidental and that Denham was trespassing when he was shot.
