CEDAR FALLS - The presidents of Iowa's three public universities will not see a pay raise in 2010, however, the Board of Regents president said the move is not an indication of their effort.
"I am proud of our institution heads. They have done a fine job over difficult circumstances. They deserve praise for the work done and their leadership," said Regent President David Miles."… This should not be misinterpreted for any lack of confidence. They have done a tremendous job."
However, the presidents are still eligible for performance bonuses of up to $80,000 in fiscal year 2010. Miles said the board could still decide that the bonuses are not possible again this year.
The Regents met Wednesday in closed session in Council Bluffs to evaluate the three institutional heads and the executive director for the Board of Regents. The university presidents had already said they would forgo any possible performance bonuses they may have earned during the previous fiscal year.
"I think this sets an important tone and example," Miles said.
