WATERLOO - Gunmen opened fire on two homes Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Police said residents escaped injury, and it wasn't clear if the attacks were related.
The first incident happened at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday at 812 Broadway St., which is the home of Loretta Murphy, 56.
Bullets struck the wood siding and window, and officers found 14 9mm shell casings in the area, according to the police report.
Then at 12:12 a.m., police were called to 819 Hawthorne Ave., which is the home of Robert Riley, 32.
The attackers shot from a gravel alley behind the house, and about seven bullets pierced the rear patio door, the police report states.
One of the projectiles went through the house and continued on, punching holes in the front window that looks out onto the front porch and then the front porch window. The bullet continued across the street and struck the screen door of 818 Hawthorne Ave.
Police collected the bullet.
Another bullet struck the leg of a roll-top desk inside 819 Hawthorne, another came to rest on the mop board and a third hit the leg of a metal table.
No arrests have been made.
