CEDAR FALLS - Congressional-presidential relations will be the topic of the 2009 Hoxie Forum at the University of Northern Iowa Monday at 3 p.m. in Seerley Hall Room 115.

Former U.S. representatives Bill Burlison and Phil English will discuss "Who Leads? Congress and the President in the American System." The moderator for the event will be Scott Peters, UNI associate professor of political science.

Burlison was a Democratic representative for Missouri from 1969-1981 and served on the Appropriations Committee in the House. After leaving the House, he practiced law in Maryland. English was a Republican representative for Pennsylvania from 2003-2009. In Congress, he served on the Ways and Means committee. He currently is a Senior Government Relations Adviser at Arent Fox in Washington, D.C.

The Hoxie Forum is free and open to the public. A reception will immediately follow the forum. The forum is co-sponsored by UNI's Department of Political Science and Department of History.
