CHARLES CITY -- A 26-year-old Charles City man has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for sexual abuse in the third degree.

In May 2005 Joseph C. Hill performed a sex act with a person who was 14 or 15 years old, according to Floyd County District Court records. Hill was 23 at the time.

Hill was fined $1,000. The fine was suspended but he must pay a $200 civil penalty.

Hill was given credit for 85 days already served in jail.

Three other counts of sexual abuse in the third degree against Hill - each one involving a different minor, all either 14 or 15 years old and alleged to have happened in 2005 - were dismissed in a plea bargain.
