DECORAH - Dr. David Heine of Decorah has entered guilty pleas to reduced charges in connection with thefts from locker rooms in two Minnesota High Schools.

The pleas were entered last week in Fillmore County District Court in Preston, Minn.

Heine, the former Winneshiek Medical Center chief medical officer, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor trespassing and misdemeanor theft in connection with a May 1 incident at the Fillmore County Central High School and misdemeanor trespassing for a reported incident at the Mabel-Canton High School in Mabel.

He had originally been charged with third-degree theft, a felony, and misdemeanor theft and trespassing for the Fillmore County Central High School incident. The same charges had originally been filed in connection with the Mabel-Canton High School incident.

Heine is scheduled to be sentenced Monday, Dec. 17. Judge Robert Benson has ordered a pre-sentence investigation. Heine also will pay restitution.

An omnibus hearing rescheduled for Nov. 26 has been waived, according to Fillmore County District Court officials.

Heine has been on leave from Winneshiek Medical Center since the charges were filed in June.
