CEDAR FALLS - A Cedar Falls teenager, picked up in July for burglary, was arrested Monday on additional charges of burglarizing flood-damaged homes in Cedar Falls.
Levi Farren Miller, 18, of 1115 Bertchwood Ave., was arrested for first-degree theft, three counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of attempted third-degree burglary, one count of attempted second-degree burglary and unlawful possession of prescription drugs. The first-degree theft charge, a Class C felony and the most severe of the citations, is because the theft took place in homes damaged by a physical disaster, police said.
Police said the investigation began July 23 after a resident reported a suspicious male walking the neighborhood of the 300 to 600 block of Longview Street, in the North Cedar area which was hit hard by the June flood.
Three unoccupied homes had been entered and prescription medicine was stolen, police said. The investigation revealed that Miller also attempted to enter two other occupied homes in the area, police said.
Miller was taken into custody July 23 for juvenile complaints of two counts of third-degree attempted burglary and possession of prescription drugs. The case has now been referred to adult court. Since then, police said, authorities have been able to link him to another residential burglary and attempted burglary on Longview Street.
