COUNCIL BLUFFS (AP) - The Iowa State Patrol says a trooper shot and wounded a man after a short car chase in Council Bluffs.

Capt. Shane Antle says Trooper Tim Sieleman fired two shots at Matthew Loth, of Plattsmouth, Neb., Tuesday afternoon after Loth refused to turn off his car and turned it toward the trooper in a "threatening manner."

Loth was treated at an Omaha hospital, then turned over the Nebraska authorities. He could be extradited to Iowa on Wednesday.

Pottawattamie County Attorney Matt Wilber says a warrant has been issued for Loth on suspicion of attempted murder. Additional charges could be filed after the investigation is completed.
