WATERLOO -- A Waterloo physician has been arrested after narcotics officers found pounds of methamphetamine after searching his home and another residence.
Dr. Mark Joseph Louviere, 50, 343 Four Seasons Drive, was arrested for possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of meth with intent to deliver while in possession of a firearm and violation of the drug tax stamp act.
Louviere is in private practice, and a woman at his office declined to comment this morning saying no one there had heard about the arrest.
Court records state officers with the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force located more than 5 kilograms of methamphetamine, which is more than 11 pounds, and several firearms.
Preliminary law enforcement estimates place the value of the drugs in the $950,000 range.
The second house that was searched was a neighbor's home, and the doctor was looking after the house while the resident was away, police said.
According to court records, Task Force officers served a search warrant at Louviere's house at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday. Inside, they found an undisclosed amount of meth and a number of guns.
Louviere was arrested and taken to the Black Hawk County Jail.
Then at 1:30 a.m. today, drug agents received permission to search a house at 214 Four Seasons that Louviere had been taking care of. They located a duffel bag containing more than 5 kilograms of meth packaged for sale and other items connected to Louviere, records state.
Police said the owner of the second house wasn't aware drugs were stored there and no charges are pending against him.
