CEDAR FALLS - No one was injured in a house fire a house fire at 5001 Quesada Ave. at 2:43 a.m. today.
Occupants told Cedar Falls Fire Rescue they woke up to the sound of a smoke detector and the smell of smoke. The family of five went to a neighbor's home and called 911.
When firefighters arrived they found a fire on the lower level of the home. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to a lower-level bedroom and the adjacent hallway. There was smoke damage throughout the house, though, and the family will not be able to return there immediately.
The cause is under investigation and a damage estimate was yet not available.
