CLEAR LAKE - Actor and award-winning-filmmaker Kevin Costner, along with his band, Modern West, will perform at 8 tonight at the Surf Ballroom.

The group played a one-hour set in a barn in Leland in January. Band member John Coinman's wife's family once called Leland home, and one of the band's songs is titled "Leland, Iowa."

Modern West officially formed in 2007 - although Costner fronted a band that played in Dyersville, the "Field of Dreams" site, in August 2006 - and released the album "Untold Truths" during November.
