CEDAR FALLS - Actor Kevin Bacon will lend his celebrity to Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards on Saturday.
At 4 p.m., the two will appear at the University of Northern Iowa's Maucker Union, 1227 27th St.
Presidential candidates, particulately on the Democratic side, have been trotting out well-known faces in the final weeks before the Iowa caucuses.
Edwards' announcement came as talk show host Oprah Winfrey stumped for Barack Obama over the weekend in Iowa, and as Hillary Rodham Clinton's famous husband, former President Bill Clinton, planned to return to the state Monday and Tuesday. The three candidates are in a tight race in the state that kicks off the presidential nominating season.
Last month, performers Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne campaigned in Iowa on Edwards' behalf.
