WATERLOO - After being released from Allen Hospital this morning, Darnell Garrette Demery was transported to the Black Hawk County Jail where he was booked in on the following charges:

- A no bond warrant charging parole violation.

- A no bond warrant charging assault on a peace officer.

- A no bond warrant charging possession and control of firearms by a felon.

The latter two charges are related to Saturday's incident in which Demery is accused of shooting at Waterloo Police officer Spencer Gann. Police were investigating a hit-and-run accident near Crossroads Center that night when Demery was reportedly found with he alleged run vehicle in the parking lot of Olive Garden. Demery reportedly ran from police and then fired a weapon at police. Gann returned fire, police said.

Demery has been hospitalized since Monday when he turned himself into authorities at the emergency room entrance to the hospital. He reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the arm during the confrontation with police Saturday.

Police said "This is an ongoing investigation and no other information will be released at this time."
