DAVENPORT - A 5-year-old girl kidnapped Friday in Davenport was reunited unharmed with her mother nearly two hours after the ordeal began, Davenport police Lt. Paul Sikorski said.

Antonio Williamson, 22, was arrested by police at about 11 p.m. after a brief foot chase. He was captured in an alley just north of 5th Street between Perry Street and Pershing Avenue and taken to the Scott County Jail. Numerous charges are pending against Williamson.

The child, Alexia Bevils, was found unharmed in the vehicle in which she had been taken, police said.

Police issued an Amber Alert after Bevils was kidnapped at about 9 p.m. at the intersection of 4th and Brady streets, Davenport police Capt. David Struckman said.

Police allege that Wiliamson took a black 2002 Ford Taurus four-door with license plate number 086TJP, with the child in the car. Williamson is not the child's parent, Struckman said.

The Taurus belongs to the child's mother, Caprice Clinton, 38. Investigators believe that the mother and the child were in the car with Williamson and a fight ensued.

The car then crashed into the monument to Quad-City running legend Nancy Kapheim.

At that point, Clinton fled the car and was chased by Williamson, who caught up with her and began assaulting her.

Williamson ran back to the Taurus and fled the scene northbound on Brady Street. The child was still in the car.

Clinton was taken to Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport, for injuries she suffered in the assault.

At 10:51 p.m., it all ended with the arrest of Williamson and the recovery of the child.

Sikorski said that an officer on patrol found the Taurus in the 700 block of Perry Street, adding that Williamson ran from the area, heading south.

The child was taken to her mother and was to be checked out at Genesis East.
