COUNCIL BLUFFS (AP) - A man charged with the drunken driving deaths of two University of Iowa students has pleaded not guilty.

Rudolph Huebner IV, 21, of Tabor, entered a written plea last week in Pottawattamie County to two counts of vehicular homicide and three counts of serious injury by motor vehicle.

Trial is scheduled for Oct. 17.

Huebner was driving 97 mph on March 18 in Pottawattamie County when his car broadsided a car driven by David Hartwig, 20, on Interstate 80 at the Underwood exit ramp, authorities said.

Mark McCloy, 21, of Carmel, Ind., and Brooke Walton, 19, of Cedar Falls, were passengers in Hartwig's car and were killed in the crash. Hartwig and two other passengers were seriously injured.

They were all students at the University of Iowa and were returning from a ski trip to Colorado over spring break.

Investigators said Huebner's blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

If convicted, Huebner could face up to 65 years in prison.
