WATERLOO - A Waterloo woman was shocked twice with a Taser after she fought with police and tried to escape from a squad car.
Shannon Vanarsdale, 36, was taken to Allen Hospital for observation after she became semi-unconscious following the second struggle, said Capt. John Beckman.
He said charges against Vanarsdale are pending.
The incident started Monday when officers received a tip that Vanarsdale, who had a parole violation warrant, was in the 800 block of West Second Street.
Beckman said she fought with officers and was shocked with a Taser and then placed in a squad car with her hands cuffed behind her back.
During the ride to jail, she apparently was able to move her cuffed hands in front of her and then tried to kick out the car window.
When officers tried to cuff her hands behind her back again, she struggled and ran off, Beckman said.
She was shocked with a Taser a second time and taken to the hospital as a precaution.
