WATERLOO - Waterloo Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man they say is connected to a Monday afternoon shooting.

Police identified Tavares Detravaar Montgomery, of Waterloo, as the suspect in the shooting. Police describe Montgomery, 23, as 5 feet 10 inches tall and 178 pounds.

Montgomery is charged with willful injury, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm as a felon.

The charges stem from a shooting that occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Kwik Star at the corner of Conger and Broadway streets. The victim, Bernard Edwards, 33, is in stable condition at Allen Memorial Hospital, according to police.

Investigators ask anyone with information on Montgomery or his whereabouts to call the Waterloo Police Department at (319) 291-4333.
