Things to do today:
- There are several workshops celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Payne Memorial AME Church, 1044 Mobile St., beginning at 10 a.m. The workshops are free and open to the public. No registration is required.
-- The Wartburg men's and women's basketball teams will play home games against Luther College beginning at 6 p.m. at the Buzz Levick Arena on the Wartburg College campus in Waverly.
-- KUNI's Live from Studio One will feature the singing of Johnsmith. He is a native Iowan now living in Wisconsin. Over two decades of performing festivals, concert halls, coffeehouses, colleges and house concerts, Johnsmith has built a solid fan base in the U.S. and abroad. Admission is $3 and free from children under 12.
-- An inaugural celebration service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be 7 p.m. at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 805 Adams St., Waterloo.
