WATERLOO - Low pressure over south-central Kansas will move northeast into Iowa by tonight bringing with it a large area of mixed rain, freezing rain and sleet this morning.

Temperatures will be close to the freezing mark during the event. Warming will push north across the state laterthis morning, ending the freezing rain threat.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for this area until noon.

As the low pressure passes to the south of the area later this afternoon, there is the possibility of a quick shot of snow during the later afternoon and evening hours. There is a potential for 2 to 4 inches of snow in a band extending from the Fort Dodge area northeast toward Mason City.
