DAVENPORT - Davenport police continue to investigate a shooting that occurred early today in the parking lot of Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street that left one victim seriously injured and led police on a pursuit into Moline.
Davenport police said a 41-year-old Davenport man was at the hospital for treatment of an injury that occurred to his son. Police said the victim was involved in an altercation with a person who then allegedly shot him in the emergency room parking lot. The victim was sitting in a car with another person when he was shot, police said.
All three people wanted in connection with the incident were arrested by Moline police and face multiple charges, police said.
Davenport police Capt. David Struckman said the incident began at 3:39 a.m.
Struckman said security guards at Genesis East, 1227 E. Rusholme St., reported that gunshots were heard outside of the entrance to the emergency room. A description of a possible suspect car was given to police.
Police Cpl. Eric Gruenhagen, responding to the call, observed a possible suspect vehicle leaving the area. Struckman said Gruenhagen attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver of the car refused to stop and fled the scene, according to police.
The car then drove into Bettendorf and went onto the Interstate 74 into Moline, according to reports. After a pursuit into Moline, speed sticks were deployed by Moline officers and the car eventually was stopped at a dead-end just inside of Rock Island city limits, police say.
Struckman said a handgun was found inside the car.
The driver of the car, Jennifer Myrick, 34, of Davenport, was arrested by Moline officers on felony driving offenses. Charges also are pending against Myrick for the Iowa portion of the pursuit.
One passenger, Johnny Angel, 27, of Rock Island, was arrested by Moline police on a felon in possession of a firearm offense.
The other passenger, Marques Dupree Wilson, 24, of Rock Island, is being held in connection with a fugitive from justice charge pending the filing of a willful injury with serious injury offense in Scott County.
All three suspects are being held today in the Rock Island County jail pending further court action.
The victim of the shooting was admitted to Genesis East in serious condition. The gunshot wound to the mid-torso was not thought to be life threatening, Struckman said.
The investigation is continuing.
